I have never done this before, and promise not to do it often, but I will be walking this Saturday — World Malaria Day — to raise funds for Imagine No Malaria. The United Methodist Church made a commitment to work with other groups (Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the United Nations, etc.) to eradicate Malaria in our lifetime. The Wisconsin Annual Conference has raised approximately half of its one million dollar pledge to support this work, and a handful of churches across our conference will be hosting walks where participants raise pledges — $1 per mile, $2/$5/$10 a mile. Well, I am walking, and I have a couple hundred dollars in pledges already, but I won’t say no to more, should any of you be willing. So, if you would like to support my five-mile walk this Saturday, I would love for you to do that. I have no credit card capability, but if you are willing to send a check, please make it out to “W.A.C.” (Wisconsin Annual Conference), and write “Imagine No Malaria” on the memo line. If you are interested in supporting my walk, please send your donation to: Dan Dick, Wisconsin Annual Conference, 750 Windsor Street, Sun Prairie WI 53590. I will be glad to send you a receipt. And if you can’t/don’t want to/or are bothered by the ask to give, please consider praying for our walks this Saturday, and the world-wide effort to wipe out Malaria.
